With hindsight, when I read Zinzan Brooke’s post written on the eve of this years world cup quarter-final between the ABs and France it all seems so clear why his prediction of a 20 point win was wrong. But was it, really…wrong?
Maybe when the unexpected (totally ludicrous) happens, all logic upon which those predictions are made becomes irrelevant.
What was expected by the NZ rugby public? A normal display from the ref for starters.
Here’s what was unexpected:
- No penalties against France in the 2nd half
- An overlap in the final 30 seconds with Chris Jack on the wing
- Numerous reffing
blunders (crime)
- McAlister taking the penalty kick when Evans is much better
- Carters injury
- Did I mention the ref?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing! The next day it all seemed so clear, even to Zinny!
Forethought: Today Graham Henry is being interviewed again for the coaching job. I say go for it Graham! Bar 20 reffing blunders you we …they would have won by 20 points. Graham, I’m judging you on the World Cup, and the World Cup was a farce. Not you. Go Henry!
